Description
Job Responsibility
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and work instructions in compliance with legal, customer, and ISO requirements.
- Provide expert advice to management to ensure full compliance with safety, health, environmental, and security regulations, including company and statutory requirements.
- Act as the key liaison with regulatory authorities (DOSH, DOE, MOH, AELB, Bomba) for inspections, reporting, licensing, and approvals.
- Lead hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRADC) covering manufacturing processes, chemicals, equipment, and contractor activities.
- Establish, implement, and monitor EHS programs such as MOC, CHRA, exposure monitoring, noise monitoring, radiation safety, and occupational health surveillance.
- Manage incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented and closed.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct emergency response drills and Business Continuity Management (BCM) exercises, including post-drill evaluation and improvement actions.
- Oversee occupational health services, including clinic operations, first aid readiness, and compliance with health-related legal requirements.
- Ensure all emergency response equipment (e.g., firefighting systems, spill kits, eyewash stations, first aid equipment) is available, inspected, tested, and maintained.
- Manage contractor safety and ensure compliance with site safety requirements; oversee chemical handling, storage, labeling, and scheduled waste disposal in accordance with regulations.
- Lead EHS audits, workplace inspections, and hygiene/food safety assessments; ensure findings are addressed and continuous improvement actions are sustained.
- Identify training needs (TNA), implement EHS training programs, and promote a strong safety and health culture throughout the organization.
- Lead EHS-related projects, provide technical support to cross-functional teams, and manage the Safety & Health Committee (SHC), including meetings, documentation, and follow-up actions.
- Stay updated on EHS regulatory changes, supervise EHS personnel and medical staff, manage poison licensing and compliance, and perform any additional duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO) recognized by DOSH Malaysia; Green Book holder is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing or chemical industry.
- Hands-on experience in chemical processes, regulatory compliance, inspections, and EHS management systems is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of Malaysian EHS regulations and ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 standards.
- Practical knowledge of chemical safety, scheduled waste management, and emergency response practices.
- Strong analytical thinking, investigation capabilities, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams
